I’m new to Feng Shui, so sorry for the beginner question. I’m looking to paint my bedroom, and have been doing my research, but I’m still confused. Here’s some background information:

My gua number is 6 (1985), the front door of the house points NE, and the house was built in 1989. If it makes a difference, the house is on a cul-de-sac, which I don’t think is the best for energy flow.

My room falls in the upper-left corner of the bagua map. Currently all the walls are white, tan carpet, with the hallways of the house having brown hardwood floor. The roof of the house has red tile and receives a lot of sun, so I believe that’s creating a lot of yang energy.

The only direction I can place my bed is SE, which for me is the Huo Hai (mishaps) direction.

I’m thinking about painting the SE wall a darker shade of red with the rest of the walls either a stone gray or a taupe color. I red somewhere that painting certain walls can attract spirits, but I haven’t been able to find much information about this. My furniture is currently dark brown wood, but I can change the color if needed.

Am I looking at the right colors? If not, what colors should I consider? I read that you should use earth colors for the bedroom, but I’m confused because I’m not sure how my element color would affect this. Can someone please shed some light on this for me? I’m trying to learn all I can and would appreciate all the help I can get.
